The Ripples of Reality Rally
- by Super User
You can only see yourself in the reflection of still water but to have an impact on others one must drop a stone into that water and create ripples that reach out far and wide and touch who knows what. I really saw myself in the quiet of my mind during my sequester off Survivor and I dropped a stone in that water when I created Reality Rally. The resulting ripples are what I envisioned for Reality Rally. I could see how involving anyone who would see the passion, feel the inspiration and want to be part of something that could enhance themselves and provide a platform for doing good, would create ripples of effect that would come to pass and it has. I will share stories here highlighting those ripples that have reached out and made a difference.
" Huey and Kiowa "
We had the grandiose idea to organize a “Fly Over” as our game started. How cool would that be. We made some enquiries always keeping in mind our fiscal responsibilities to our charity, Michelle’s Place.
Our enquiries led us to the Wings and Rotors Museum in French Valley. We met with Shayne and Pat who introduced us to “Huey”. The Huey helicopter had played a major part in the Vietnam conflict and now plays a major part in Veterans events and symbolizes much to those affected by that war. They were very excited about being part of Reality Rally but gas prices are a reality and to do the fly over would be costly. Thinking really outside the box, Pat, the museum director, told us if we could get a public toilet built in the museum though our connections, they could open to the public and we could have a fly over. Bartered costs and all would be happy. Several calls were made, General Contractor on board, toilet built, fly over arranged, everyone very happy. But…. That not the end. Steve at Big Horse Feed and Mercantile had always had a dream to have Huey come and land at Big Horse and now that would come true as Huey and the Kiowa helicopter would land right there on a Reality Rally Challenge Checkpoint field. And that’s still not all. Now connected Huey flew in 2 weekends during the Big Horse Maze and Steve was in 7th heaven and so was his family. Many Vets were part of that exhibition, many came to see, touch, feel and heal and our youth got to see and sit in a little of our history. The Museum got much publicity and that ripple will continue as who knows what will still result from that initial grandiose idea.
