Gillian Larson was previously on the reality TV show, Survivor. When she was booted off the island, she wanted to use her platform to promote a larger issue - cancer. She used her talent and platform to create Reality Rally. Funds raised during this event are donated to the non-profit organization, Michelle’s Place Breast Cancer Resource Center located in Temecula, California.

“We have cities from all over the valley come to the competition” says Larson. These cities include Perris, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, and Wildomar. Joan Hoover adds “we would love to see our city [Temecula] win again.”

The Saturday event, Reality Rally Amazing Race, is a competition put on every year by the founder, Gillian Larson and team relations director, Joan Hoover along with several hundred volunteers. This event is where reality stars and citizens will come together to celebrate their hard work and possible victory, however running is not required to attend. Each team consists of three individuals and one reality star.

Reality stars in attendance come from Big Brother, Survivor, and other popular reality TV shows. Each reality star must raise money for Michelle’s Place to attend the Reality Rally. Hundreds of volunteers from the Inland Empire come together to help with the competition set-up, as well as host games during the race in Old Town Temecula.

In addition, this three day event offers games, prizes, and even a “crazy fun lip-sync showdown” says Larson with enthusiasm. The Evening of Entertainment is held at Wilson Creek Winery and the lip-sync showdown is held at South Coast Winery.

Larson is amazed with the hard work of every individual each year, she says “Temecula is the place to do the event.” While it is a game, participants are eager to raise money for Michelle’s Place, and go above and beyond to help. From handling snakes to making pizzas, volunteers are excited to help.

Reality Rally’s goals are to create inclusiveness, creativity, community appeal, and country-wide participation. This event brings in people from all over the United States, and sometimes other countries to participate. The game does get competitive, but attendees have fun even when they are not winning.

Over $100,000 is raised each year for Michelle’s Place to provide cancer patients with transportation to doctor’s appointments, support services, financial services, and more. This game gives those involved the opportunity to help someone who is medically in need. On top of financial gain, Reality Rally also brings visibility to Temecula which brings this city a tremendous amount of tourism.

This year’s Reality Rally will be a three day event taking place on May 14-16. Anyone can participate by going to www.realityrally.com and signing up with a team or alone to play or volunteer. Either way, this event is a unique way to get involved with the community and raise money for a great cause. If you are unable to attend this event, you can also volunteer and/or donate directly to Michelle’s Place by visiting www.realityrally.com. From there, click to donate.
