The Ripple touches Erin Stone

by Super User

The Ripples of Reality Rally have  touched many and our stories continue. Reality Rally was created in tribute to 3 people who died young from cancer. (See our website) I know they are still at work as they are the guiding force behind Reality Rally and all the ripples.

This Reality Rally Ripple is about Erin Stone.

Erin was young, happy, following her dream of becoming an RN, enjoying her wonderful family of 3 kids and a great husband, when a breast lump changed her life forever. She and her family rose to the challenge in the fight for her life and 2 years later, have come out the other end, winners. Towards the end of that fight her friend Maureen heard about Reality Rally and thought it would be a great diversion and a lot of fun, so she formed Team Erin to play in Reality Rally. In order to be able to choose the Reality Star they wanted they had to raise $1000 for Michelle’s Place. They started hosting neighborhood poker parties, one of which I was invited to. That is when this Ripple of Reality Rally began. I saw a poster board they had made with their 3 choices of Stars and they were asking for votes as to who to choose. Holly Hoffman from Survivor was my choice and I helped make that happen. They were perfect for each other. I dropped Holly an email and told her a team of wonderful ladies were fundraising to pick her or 2 others. Holly connected with them and they became a Team Erin. I wanted a “Story” from Reality Rally and I asked if Bob Madden from Business Blast could follow them and document not only the game story but Erin’s story which was far from a game.

I had assigned Holly another Reality Star Roommate for the event but something made me change that at the last minute. Holly was Kelly’s roommate from The Swan. They all bonded and had a great time during the Reality Rally weekend. Kelly is a neighbor of an Under Armour Executive, who heard Erin’s story and suggested she apply to be a Power in Pink Under Armour Spokesperson. Erin applied and was one of 3 chosen from thousands. For a second time because of that lump her life changed and this time in a fun and meaningful way. She has travelled all over the country doing interviews, participating in events, is in publications, on the News, inspiring and encouraging others . The message to the world.

She is a fighter and so can you be. Power in Pink celebrates the many women who use fitness and exercise in the fight against breast cancer. Who will ever know who will be inspired by her story and find strength in their fight or even save their life from hearing what Erin has to say. Under Armour gave her a $5000 donation for a charity of choice and as Erin had been supported by the excellent services of Michelle’s Place, she gave it to them.

As always, in awe,

Gillian
