Reality Rally

One thing that teams often don’t realize when they sign up for Reality Rally is that the game begins in that very moment. Click the button, confirm you’re coming, and BOOM—that is when the event truly starts. The factors that help to determine 1^st place in the race are defined by the months that lead up to the race itself. Your fundraising can make or break you! How, you ask? Well, this year was a great example!

The talented Ta Ta Sisterhood team (Tonya, Kendra, and Andrea), along with Brad Bohannan were the crowned champions of the race. But what some may not know is that their diligence in the months leading up to the race earned them priceless advantages which largely contributed to their victory!

After any team signs up for the race, it fundraises on its own until the big day. If the team and their celebrity manage to raise $4000 collectively, that earns them a “U-Turn”—the ability to skip a challenge during the race.

This year, the Ta Ta Sisterhood raised $2228 on their own, while Brad raised $6450. Brad, who appeared on the show “Bar Rescue”, owns two bars in New Orleans and worked for 7 months to host fundraising events for Reality Rally. He sold football pool squares for a Saints game, procured an autographed guitar and sold raffle tickets, and also sold discount movie tickets for a premiere showing of the film “London Has Fallen”.  

Meanwhile, the Ta Ta Sisterhood was also working hard to fundraise, hosting a nail fundraiser at Jamboree Nails (participants received a custom Reality Rally nail design!), a Pampered Chef fundraiser online, a “Left Right Center” game fundraiser with donated prizes, and a neighborhood 1K “Bunny Run” over Easter with The Bunny and eggs all along the 1K route for local children (each family donated $5 per child to participate).

So when both Brad and the Ta Ta Sisterhood’s money was combined, they had earned over $8000! This meant they received not one, but TWO “U-Turns”. It wasn’t easy work, but their perseverance was deservedly rewarded. And they didn’t spend their whole lives fundraising to raise this extraordinary amount! Instead, they merely dedicated certain amounts of time once every few months, and it proved effective.

What’s funny is, at the race itself, they used their two “U-Turns” but forgot that they had a “Skip It”, which would have allowed them to skip another challenge. All teams received two “Skip It” cards. One in the clue bag in the beginning and a second after they held a snake for a selfie. So in the end, the winning team was really only one “advantage” ahead of everyone else.

That means then, all you readers out there, that your game begins NOW! You have a year to fundraise, and that means a year to earn an unlimited amount of “U-Turns” if you just put your passionate hearts and minds to work! Have a yard sale, throw a bingo party, do whatever YOU enjoy doing and use it to raise money! Anything and everything can be a fundraiser.
