Reality Rally

Reality Rally’s blog has been on hiatus for a little while, but I’m excited to announce that it is back in business. I’ll be taking over for Caroline, who is currently transitioning to focus more deeply on work and treatment. As a result, I’m here to continue bringing you updates and stories about the wonderful work Reality Rally is doing in the community. But first, let me introduce myself!

My name is Taryn Murphy and I reside in Temecula, California. I’m a homeschooled junior in high school, and for three years now have been pursuing journalistic opportunities for my long-term goal of becoming a Broadcast Journalist. For five years, I’ve competed as a public speaker in the national speech and debate league “STOA”, receiving championship titles and continuing to sharpen my communication skills. To increase my involvement in the political realm, I interned for Senator Joel Anderson from 2014-2015, attending events on the Senator’s behalf, writing and editing his speeches, and also contacting constituents on his part. Recently, I’ve procured an internship with the Valley News, reporting and writing for the newspaper weekly.

I met Gillian at an event for the National Charity League, which I was attending to cover for the Valley News. As fate would have it, we were seated at the same table, and after chatting for a while about Gillian’s public speaking engagements, I mentioned I was interested in doing the same. For a while, I’ve particularly been interested in speaking publicly on human trafficking, with an effort to raise awareness and give back to my community. After discovering I wrote for the newspaper, Gillian explained that she was looking for a blogger for her charity’s website. I leaped at the opportunity to contribute to this life-saving cause, now hoping that I can raise awareness for both breast cancer and human trafficking alike.

I look forward to becoming your new blogger and am thrilled to begin this journey as a part of the Reality Rally team. I’m excited to see where God leads.
