Then You Just Move On

by Super User

When I spoke to Gillian, about a month ago, I told her I would continue to blog for Reality Rally. Then I sat down and realized how totally drained I was. So, I spoke to her again and told her I couldn’t do it this year. This was very hard for me. I didn’t want to give up something that means so very much to me, especially now that it’s become so personal. But, as Gillian said, my health has to come first.

So that brings me to today. I stopped off at the Reality Rally blog site to see how it was fairing without me. The last article there is mine “Treat Everyone As If They Have Cancer”. I guess no one has stepped up yet. I realized after re-reading it that the story didn’t end there.

I finished radiation on October 7, 2015. I know the date because it happened to be my 37th wedding anniversary. I married my high school sweetheart at the very young age of 19. Also on that date, I started Tamoxifen and Warfarin. Tamoxifen will work on the hormones to prevent future cancer and the Warfarin will keep my blood the correct thickness to prevent a blood clot (from the Tamoxifen). Such is the life of a cancer patient. You have to pick and choose what is right for you. Then you just move on.

That’s where Michelle’s Place plays a huge role in a lot of breast cancer patients’ lives. They have an expert staff there to help you pick and choose. It’s one of many ways Michelle’s Place is there for you. You can speak to an expert or you can speak to a survivor. I still receive follow-up calls, even though I live across the country. Coincidentally, I just received a call from Ginny at Michelle’s Place!

Everything is going well for me. I’m doing what I have to do to continue to be a Survivor. Finally, I’m starting to feel better. I can do some household chores without having to take a rest. Since we moved prior to my diagnosis, I’m working on making our house into our home. It’s fun. Wait a minute…fun. I’m having fun again. There’s nothing wrong with that!

I told my radiation technician (a self-proclaimed Reality TV junkie) about Reality Rally. He loves the idea. We’ve made a pact to get to enjoy it together. I hope to see you at Reality Rally 2016. So stay tuned…Bloggergal
