Reality Rally Stars Raise Funds in a Variety of Ways
- by Super User
A big part of Reality Rally is of course the Reality stars. The best part about Reality stars is that they aren’t actors and actresses appearing on your TV. They are people just like you and me. They have families and careers and regular lives. Okay, most of them have regular lives! But, Reality Rally stars are very special because they’ve taken their 15 minutes of fame to help others. Each Reality Rally star must raise $500 to be able to attend the events. There are no appearance fees paid. In actuality, most stars raise more than $500. Every star gets to decide how they raise the money to attend. Some ask their fans through their Facebook and Twitter accounts. Then there are those that use their imagination and skills to raise those funds. Here are a few of those stories.
Do you remember Billy Garcia? He was a contestant on Survivor: Cook Islands. Billy has been attending Reality Rally since 2012. For the third year in a row, Billy has raised his funds to attend Reality Rally by holding a pie eating contest at his Free Mason Lodge, Mariners Lodge No. 67 F&AM (established in 1825). Contestants pay a $50 entry fee. It’s a single elimination, Versus-type event. Each round is a different flavor of pie ranging from pumpkin to blueberry to lemon meringue. In the finals, the last two contestants choose the flavors. In all three years that Billy has held this event, his cousin Cisco has won. So far this year, Billy has raised $535 for Reality Rally and Michelle’s Place, guaranteeing that you will be meeting him in April if you attend. Congratulations Billy and see you at Reality Rally 2015!
Next we have Melody Pinkerton and her fiancé Alex Jacobs. Melody was a contestant on VH1’s Frank the Entertainer and Alex was on The Mole. A romantic side note is that Melody and Alex met at a Reality star event. The couple lives in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2013, they started a Nashville Benefit Concert called “Blues for Boobs” with 100% of the proceeds going to Michelle’s Place. Local musicians from downtown Nashville and some from Reality TV shows perform and help raise funds. Melody designed and painted tee shirts, baseball hats, koozies and other merchandise that is for sale during the event. This year, the event will be held in March, so if you’re in the Nashville area, plan to attend. I’ve personally heard the talent so I know you won’t be disappointed. By the way, these two have already raised $1,020 for Reality Rally and Michelle’s Place!
One of my favorite Reality TV stars is Jimmy T Tarantino from Survivor: Nicaragua. Jimmy T lives in Gloucester, Massachusetts. I’m sure you know that they are having quite a winter! Jimmy recently posted this on his Facebook page: “Attention Cape Ann residents!!! A Back for Breasts!!! Snowed in??? I'll shovel you out this afternoon in exchange for your tax-deductible donation to Michelle's Place Breast Cancer Resource Center.” As you can see from the pictures, Jimmy worked hard for the money, but he earned the love and continued support of his neighbors. So far this year, Jimmy T has raised $650 for Michelle’s Place. You don't want to miss meeting him at Reality Rally 2015. He's a great guy.
These are only a few of the many, many stories on how Reality TV stars raise the funds to attend Reality Rally. I’ll try to highlight some more in the next week or two. If you haven't donated to this worthwhile charity, please go HERE and donate today. Your favorite Reality TV star and Michelle's Place will appreciate it more than you know! In the meanwhile…stay tuned…Bloggergal
