What's It Like to Volunteer for Reality Rally?

by Super User

As I mentioned in a previous blog, my husband and I had to relocate to Atlanta Georgia in 2011. I didn’t want to leave the sunny, warm climate of southern California, but what can you do? Sometimes you have to go where your job takes you. I did make one demand—that I would be able to go back to Temecula every April to volunteer at Reality Rally. Why? There are a few reasons:

One is the people you meet. I’ve met Reality TV stars, other volunteers and fans from all over the country. I have forged friendships with people I never would have met if it wasn’t for Reality Rally.

Two is the reason for the event, Michelle’s Place and fighting breast cancer. When you visit Michelle’s Place, you will understand what I’m talking about. It’s special. It’s worth it. It’s my cause.

Three is the event itself. Reality Rally is fun. The food is good. The entertainment is awesome. The race itself is your chance to be a reality star for a few hours. When you volunteer for Reality Rally, you aren’t worked into the ground. Gillian’s main goal is that every volunteer, fan and reality star has a great time, and they do!

The fourth reason is Temecula, California. Have you been there? You should go. It’s a great place to visit. The wineries are beautiful. Old Town Temecula is a hoot! Oh, and did I mention the shopping?

What? You don’t believe me? Here’s what Leanna has to say:

I have spent the better part of my life raising kids on my own, watching life go by without feeling I am contributing enough to helping others. Now that my kids are older, I have spent the last two years trying to give and to really reach out and help in any way I can. Not having money, time is all I have to give. I have run and volunteered for several foundations to help raise awareness and necessary funds including Race for the Cure, Paws for the Cure, Donate for Life, and several other wonderful causes. I want to be a part of something amazing with 100% donation going to the foundation. You can’t beat that. I have had a wonderful experience interacting with you (Gillian) directly thru emails. That doesn't always happen that you get to interact with the person that actually spearheaded such an event. It is such a unique and brilliant fundraiser. I am thrilled to be part of the helping party. There is no other fundraiser in these parts like this.

Lily Holland, Celebrity Relations Coordinator also gives her take on volunteering with Reality Rally:

I'm so thankful to be a part of Reality Rally. I have been a volunteer since 2011 on the Production Team and for the past 2 years on the Executive Team. Helping Gillian with the Stars since year one is so rewarding. I absolutely love being a part of a fun, amazing charity event that benefits Michelle's Place. It's something I hope I can do for years to come, and will!

If the above isn’t enough to interest you, I have one more thing to say. There are recorded studies that prove that volunteering makes you feel physically healthier, lowers your stress level and improves your work skills. It’s a win-win!
