A “Second Chance” opportunity of a lifetime:an incredible experience
- by Gillian Larson
Reality Rally likes to do it big and make waves that matter in the world of “Making a Difference”, Grand Canyon White Water Rafting trips down the Colorado through the Grand Canyon http://www.grandcanyonwhitewater.com/ makes a different type of wave. Grand Canyon White Water take people through the waves and past the magnificence of the Grand Canyon. This truly is one of the most incredible experiences of a lifetime.....I know I have done it. Grand Canyon White Water donated a trip for Reality Rally 2016 so they could contribute to making a difference.
This is the story from the 2016 winners.. We are Jerry Burke Jr. and Khristy Pittman and we had the trip of a lifetime because of the 2016 Reality Rally held April 2016 in Temecula California. We won the 2nd chance opportunity drawing for an “8 days and 7 nights” river rafting trip down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Our prize was graciously donated to the event by the Grand Canyon Whitewater Company. http://www.grandcanyonwhitewater.com/
It was my first visit to the Grand Canyon on Monday July 18th, 2016. Khristy has visited the Grand Canyon numerous times. All I can say is WOW, the beauty from the top at South Rim of the Grand Canyon was amazing and breathtaking! On Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 we embarked on our first ever river rafting trip.
For the next 8 days we traveled/rafted 225 miles down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon Whitewater Company took care of all our wants and needs, a very experienced, professional organization. They shared countless amounts of history each day of the canyon and river. There were numerous highly rated rapids that definitely got your adrenalin going and got you plenty wet!
The scenery is breath taking.
The camping on the river banks under the stars, magical
the day hikes extraordinary
We made numerous side hiking excursions off the river into the canyon during and at the end of each our days. They were very secluded, refreshing and just as beautiful as being on the river itself.
And for the food on the trip, oh my gosh! To start our days, breakfasts included eggs, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, pancakes, sausage and bacon. If you like sandwiches, our lunch stops included turkey and peanut butter sandwiches with chips and cookies. And if you didn’t get enough and breakfast or lunch, that had an entire locker on the boat full of snacks. The dinners included salmon, chicken, pork, hamburgers & bratwursts, chicken fajitas, lasagna and steak. We had cheesecake every night and they even baked a birthday cake!
We really enjoyed the group we were with and the river guide and swamper excellent.
What an amazing experience it was, one we'll never forget.
A most incredible sunset one night clearly told us we were in a very special place that we could share with each other and now through our blog with many. We truly did have an opportunity of a lifetime and the funds raised by the donation of this amazing trip will go towards helping someone have a lifetime with early detection by a mamogram provided by Michelle's Place.
But honestly another most amazing experience we had was the 2016 Reality Rally event itself. www.realityrally.com. Hundreds of people volunteered, spearheaded once again by the amazing Gillian Larson, making it a huge success, raising funds and exposure for our local Breast Cancer Resource Center, Michelle’s Place.
Jerry bought several tickets and his hopes were dashed when his name was not called. However his excitement soared when he got a phone call from me telling him the winner could not go and his name had been drawn on “a second chance drawing.....
